December Makes me Remember....

December makes me remember...waking up on Christmas morning in the house that built me. The house that was my home. The home that my mother built with her love, patience, and guidance through the years. The years of diapers and 2:00 am feedings, the years of scraped knees, first loves and first heartaches. December brings to mind all the other Decembers that have come to pass. Christmas mornings filled with excitement to receive an Etch-a-Scetch, a Kissy Doll, a dollhouse, a tape recorder ( now, that was high-tech)and not to mention, it brought hours upon hours of fun, my first pair of bell-bottoms; orange with flowers, which were so groovy. All the presents were nice. It makes me realize as each year passes how much my Mom actually sacrificed and how hard she must have worked to make me happy each Christmas. And not just in a material way. The memories that still play in my mind. The memories of her and I baking and doing crafts. It has come to my realization that is where I have received my "crafting gene". Mom was crafty. I know sometimes it feels like I am "channeling" her in some fashion, when I get a idea that surprises even me. I have recently chosen this beautiful vintage photograph of my Mom to represent "The TinMan's Wife" at my craft shows/sales. I think she would be pleased. I think she would appreciate the thought. I miss her and appreciate her everyday. Merry Christmas!

Changed my name to Alice.

Hello blog, where ya been? Just kidding, I admit I have been the one who has been on hiatus. Just walking the halls of this life and hoping to achieve a creative, meaningful life around me. So, once again, I am creating, utilizing my favorite old vintage thingys..selling and sharing. Thinking of doing another Christmas open house sale... film at 11. As always, still dreaming of the little cottage behind the mainhouse, where I can create to my heart's content. But until then...the house will be the colllection point for all my stuff...and I will keep planning my creative cottage...dream on Alice.

Memories of Dad....Father's Day 2010

Being a child of the 60's, we had "Silly Putty" , (who remembers that?) we played with it for hours...pressing it flat and making "copies" of the comics in the newspaper...that was so high tech..anyway, one day my Dad picked it up and began to roll it on the table, making it skinnier and longer, much like a snake or a worm. Then, he says, "hey kids, watch this", and puts one end of the "snake" in his right ear and the other end in his left ear, as if a snake is crawling through his head. Of course we all got a good laugh out of that. But, when he removed the silly putty from his ears, he did not get all of it out and Mom had to take him to the emergency room and have it removed. Of course, eventually, that was the funniest part. Many funny, fond, loving memories of my Dad today. I miss him and his sense of humor. ♥

365 Days ......

Making a list of things to get done in 2010. And checking it twice. This year I refuse to get caught up in New Year's Resolution biz. I will try my hardest to do something kind, productive, and meaningful each day. I have 365 days in this year to give it my best shot. Wish me luck and say prayer! Do you have a list of things "to do" this year? Care to share? Please leave a comment on how you manage your list and accomplish your goals. We are in this together and all we can do is try, right ladies?

Happy New Year...2010.

Again, this is what happens when life and other stuff gets in the way of living. No time, no blog. And, that is ok. I am not going to stress about it. I am going to make more an effort to update the blog and share my rambling thoughts and ideas with whoever stops by and cares to have a look-see. Enjoy while you are here..and please LEAVE ME A COMMENT. I truly appreciate it.

Hope this finds you all happy, healthy, and loved in this new year. Can you believe, it is the year: 2010? Seems like a very "futuristic" number to me, but I am still living in the time warp of vintage and retro thingys. Simple things that make us happy is what it is all about, don't you think? Whatever year it is, we all have the same amount of days to try to get it right or royally screw things up. My prayer is that all of you will get it right more than the other option. All we can do is TRY and keep praying for the wisdom the know the difference. Happy New Year. HAPPY NEW YOU. HAPPY NEW MOMENTS. HAPPY NEW FRIENDSHIPS. HAPPY NEW FORGIVENESS. HAPPY NEW MEMORIES. HAPPY DAYS. HAPPY BLESSINGS. HAPPY AMENS.
